I started Line Dancing in 1995, I was on holiday in America and watched in a bar a group of Linedancers and wanted to give it a go, as soon as I arrived back in the UK I searched for a class and found one in Wellingborough, Northants - not too far from where I was based.
From the first step I was hooked !! Later that year the class were given the opportunity to take part in an event at the Ball Room, Blackpool - to attempt the Guiness World Record of the biggest class of linedancers on the floor, the dance was 'One Step Forward'
I attended classes in the UK until 2000 when we moved to Spain, a small village inland called Arboleas in the province of Almeria.
All hopes of Line Dancing were gone as the Spaniards had never heard of it (and still to this day do not really know about it)
Life continued without Line Dancing until 2002 an advert in the local paper, announcing 'Line Dance Class opening soon' I waited for the date and attended, I was now back in the Line Dancing Family :-)
Several more classes started and we now have an abundance of choice to be able to dance at different clubs.
In 2008 'Dusty Boots' Line Dance Demo team were formed - Dancing all over the Almanzora Valley - Spain for charity events. It has given me the opprtunity to choreograph dance shows and also Line Dance step sheets.
I was very fortunate to take on a Line Dance Class in July 2012 and the class has grown from strength to strength and I would like to take this opportunity to thank all my class members for their support :-)
One of my choreographed line dances 'So Proud' was nominated for a Crystal Boot award, I was lucky enough to be able to attend the awards in January 2015, this was such an amazing experience. All Nominees get to open the awards night show dancing as a group - the biggest audience I have ever danced in front of, it was great and the special memory I will keep forever is dancing alongside all fellow nominees, especially the legend Robbie McGowan Hickie whom I was dancing next to - an experience never to forget :-)
